cork selection
Our process begins with the selection of the best cork forests and cork producers in Portugal and Spain by our expert team of buyers.
cork harvest
At this stage cork is extracted from cork oak tree by skilled cutters using a traditional method utilized by our industry. This step takes place in the warm months of June and July, the time of year where it is possible to remove the cork without damaging the tree.
Cork care
We have created a processing facility in Alentejo, the area of the largest concentration of cork oak trees in Portugal. The Alentejo, with its climate, allows the best conditions for resting and stabilizing cork. The presence of a pure water spring in our facilities and our surface area are also important factors in the quality of our product.

To transform the raw cork RELVAS develops and uses cutting-edge technology for the selection of the highest quality cork granulates and disksto create corks which will be in contact with your sparkling wine. Some of the key aspects are:

It cuts across all stages of the manufacturing process and consists of sensory analysis, chemistry and physics of each item, among others, cork, subsidiary materials, water, discs, granulates. RELVAS has two labs and many quality check-points throughout the production process.
